Do any of you have problems with getting your loved one to go to bed?

That is one of my main problems! I let her stay up usually till around 9:30 but here lately till 10 or 10:30 pm hoping I won't have such a problem but there always is. She wants to stay right in her chair all night. I feel better for her to be in her bed because it is close to mine & I would be able to hear her there better. She makes such a big issue out of it. I dread it every night. Bathtime used to be real bad but has gotten somewhat better lately. Any suggestions you all might have for bedtime would be appreciated. Thanks.

See if her doctor will prescribe something to relax her before bed, but won't affect her if she gets up. Sometimes just a low dose zanax is all it takes. Don't argue with her as you will only bring out the stubbornness and her resolve to stay in her chair.

Thanks for your reply. Tonight was a little easier at bedtime -- to which I was very thankful! I never know.

i have a 91 yr old aunt who much prefers to sleep in her recliner and has for many years. i think she has digestive reflux when she lies down.
on bathing, my mother has no desire to be soaking wet. she keeps herself pretty fresh by using adult wipes on her skin.
guess im suggesting a little bit of compromise. let her sleep in her chair and smell like a goat. she probably is about over other peoples expectations..
