Is it normal for someone with sever dementia to sleep 72 hours straight, except to use the bathroom?

EXPERT Carol Bradley Bursack, CDSGF Feb 2012
If she's in end stage dementia, it may be not that unusual to sleep most of the time. You should check with her doctor, though, to make sure.
Take care,

My mom has chronic A-fib and sometimes sleeps 24-36 hours straight. Her docs tell me that is okay for her. Mom has, I guess I could say, simple dementia due to age and Parkinson's. When she wakes, she will be a bit more confused than normal but doesn't rea
lly take too long to get back to her normal.
