My father has dementia with onset of Alzheimer's. We're having problems with getting him up each day. He wants to stay in bed still 5 to 6 pm. What should be done?

Does he sort of wake up several times during the day? My mom does, and if I try to engage her in conversation, sometimes she'll get up earlier (she likes to sleep in till 2 or 3). I try to talk up some kind of fun activity or talk about food and make her hungry for breakfast. I also try to get her to drink a little, so the deyhdration doesn't set in and create its own set of difficulties. Is he on any kind of antidepressant? Could be he has some depression that makes him just want to sleep. Good luck to you in addressing this, and bless you for doing so.
