I use a product made out of soil micro-organisms which i think are grown or cultured in an acidic base liquid so they can survive stomach acid. The creator of the product said that the probiotics are responsible for making your body create enzymes. Can Dr Merrel explain this? I like to know what is the minimum amount of probiotics and enzymes that are needed on a daily basis and how to cover ones basis by simply including which types of foods in ones diet daily to ensure that our elders get everything?

I've often looked over the digestive enzyme supplements wondering if they would help my mother's chronic constipation and felt overwhelmed by the choices (and cost).
