My mother she is 83 years old ,has been in a nursing home for over a year, she has Medi-cal, Medicare and AARP supplement, she receives SSI ,when filling out her medi-cal annual red termination form I list her SSI income , they have not asked or taken a share of cost from her SSI , Her son has a joint account in which her SSI is deposited she was living with her son for 9 years prior to her placement in a SNF . My understanding is she is only aloud a certain amount of money to be eligible! He sends me a check monthly to go towards clothes and anything she made need! I also bring her laundry home and have taken her to appointments etc.He has a room waiting for her if she's ever able to come home. My concern is why they are not taking her ssi benefits? and when she passes are we going to be responsible for repaying her benefits?
