Fantastic gift ideas! With these, seniors will feel that they're important and cared. I will make sure to have this with my closest elder folks.

A gift certificate from a pharmacy they use. Copayments can add up.

My husband, who can't remember anything that happened more that 2 hrs. ago is too far gone to appreciate any of those gifts. He is also on a feeding tube and I gave him a comforter which laundry lost. He can't focus on movies and despite my instructions how to call me - he never calls. He doesn't even use the computer there. He did appreciate the recliner I had deliver to him at the nursing home, and the New Balance sneakers

A digital photo frame: not for people with dementia. You will confuse the hell out of them. Torture.

The gift that keeps on giving: ...subscription gifts—think "Fruit of the Month Club"—... Yes, nice idea.

Their favorite board game: Yes, nice – but only if they will regularly have company to share it. Nothing sadder than the mah jong set gathering dust on the shelf because there's nobody ever around…

A handmade blanket: Or similar, yes, lovely idea. But not if it's so very amateur that it's actually junk. As recommended, know your limitations!

Your time: Hear hear!

A classic movie: 'Movies have "incredible reminiscence value," according to Maguire.' Indeed, they do; but be careful. Sometimes the reminiscences are not as pleasurable as you'd hoped.

The opportunity to live independently: Just check that helpful gadgets actually do help. Try them yourself first, for example, and make sure they don't create more problems than they solve.

A way to enhance their health: Nice ideas; and I'd also include beauty care vouchers. Check out the salon first and make sure they're respectful and caring towards seniors. Some are excellent in this way, some dismissive, some stereotype every woman over 40 into the blue rinse category.

The ability to stay connected: Pay special attention to the point about making sure your elder can use any technology you propose, easily and independently. A block booking of tuition sessions with a skilled teacher of older people might need to be part of the gift.
