Excellent article and really good examples. I work for a practice in NC called Doctors Making Housecalls. We are 14 years strong and still growing. This is the future of elder care.
Interesting how house call doctors are coming back.... saw in today's newspaper a full page ad by UnitedHealth regarding this. Great idea for minor problems that could be treated at home. And one less trip for us to bundle up our parent and one less waiting room to sit in :)
My only concern is unless the doctor pulls up with a whole diagnostic van, wouldn't the patient still have to go into the doctor office for x-rays, blood tests, and anything else that a doctor can't carry in his/her black bag? I know with today's technology that a doctor could carry into a house a sonogram and EKG.
House call doctors? I knew it was declining and had no idea it would ever come back. I thought the closest thing you came to house call doctors were paramedics. Yet I went and Google searched and there were a bunch of companies that do it! travelmd/physicians-house-call-network/
