Candie, I work for a hearing aid company and we have several patients that have gotten help from the Lions Club. Look on-line. They have a hearing assistance program that at least afforded our patients to get the least expensive model and our company sells the aid at cost and the specialist takes no pay or commission. We have put aids in the ears of at least 6 people this way in the last 2 years. It's so important-unaided hearing loss has been linked to dementia. If the brain doesn't get stimulus it loses function....makes sense. Not to mention depression and loss of social interaction.

Candie, have you talked to her case worker or the hearing aid place? There are programs that do assist with hearing aids. It would certainly be worth a little research to see if she is eligible for any of them.

I have an 88 year old mother who has medicaid and medicare. We do not have the income to buy hearing aids which could improve her quality of life. She acts so depressed because it is difficult for her to be around others because she has difficulty hearing or watching TV. It is sad.
