My son-in-Law is a first year resident and rotating through all areas of the hospital before his destination in surgery. His mother was a double-MD, a “by the books” doctor who did not believe in anything that was not specifically promoted by the AMA. Hence, he never took food supplements, ate quality foods on purpose, watched for toxic chemicals in the home, drank purified water...you get the idea. His only negative trait while dating my daughter was that he would sometimes snicker when my daughter took her supplemts (we use Shaklee) and used safe cleaners (again, Shaklee) and when we purposely tried to eat “plant based meals” or raw foods and occasionally juiced alot of veggies.
Last week, he was responsible for turning off life support on a 64 year old. He came home that night and said to me, “You know all that stuff you do to keep healthy, don’t stop.”

My mother and I (she is 92, I am 70) both go to the same Osteopath who tests what our individual body needs and supplements accordingly. At 92 my mom still works circles around most people more than half her age. She can do a 2 min plank with ease, and walks up and down our steep 1/4 mile driveway 2 times a day AND, still weeds, plants, waters a garden that covers about 1/8 acre. On top of all that. . we live in the country, we do not have garbage removal. We go to the dump 3 times a year. We burn all burnable trash. She does all of this as I work as a CNA and am only home 2 1/2 days a week. DO NOT TELL ME SUPPLEMENTING IS DANGEROUS! She has been supplementing with Standard Process Labs nutrients for over 2 decades. The food we have today is extremely devoid of the nutrients our bodies need. Supplementing is absolutely necessary, especially for the elderly. I would not listen to any doctor today. They simply do not understand nutrition!

I would think 'nutrients' that are vital, necessary for strength, endurance and even extension of 'healthier' organs should be a part of AMA world, medical professionals, and related governmental and authoritative agencies like the FDA to encourage healthy eating practices ..

This is why I like IDLife Nutrition. It is based on a HIPAA compliant health assessment that takes in to consideration ones age, health, medications and illnesses. One can take a free health assessment.

Seniors should certainly get "senior" supplements. They shouldn't get "children's"! versions because their needs are different and change with age.
Seniors need extra nutrients, and MOST of the time, they should be in excess of the RDA, because that level is only supposed to keep the "average healthy" person from having a deficiency. Many times, there's a WIDE variance from individuals of their needs, and studies are continuing to show that "optimum" can be many times the RDA-for example, C and vitamin D. Do your own research. Don't depend on your doctor to advise you on nutrition because most have NO idea about nutrition unless they studied nutrition after medical school. Unfortunately, western doctors aren't taught nutrition or preventative health because they are supported (funded) by drug companies and petro-chemical industry.
