Dear Recraig2, in reference to your comment about the word parent being used when the word patient was intended. Since this article is addressed to caretakers of PARENTS and the elderly, the word parent is used appropriately in my opinion.

PLEASE correct your article! The word "parent" is used through most, not all, of the article where it should read "patient". It is so distracting and undermines trust so much I almost left your site. Also, some sentences especially toward the end are completely missing words.

The part about after-cataracts was new to me. Thank you for the information. Please pay more attention to editing or you can contact me about editing, since I write and edit content for websites.

What other optiobs are there for curing cataracts? About a year ago I had also been diagnosed with glaucoma for which I put drops in my eyes. About a year ago my eye care specialist said the cataracts are not bad enough to remove. Yesterday he told me I am too old for cataract surgery. I am 88 and are on high blood pressure medication, but otherwise physically active, fit and flexible.

The very common problem of cataract at an old age is recommended with surgery most of the times. Though this article displays the cons of the surgery, which are really risky for a person to bear at such delicate life stage. Any effective option for curing cataract rather than a surgery should be a priority recommendation by doctors.
