Find Care & Housing
I totally agree. Even though caregiving may be the main focus for us we still have a life. While I appreciate people asking about my LO we can talk about other things.😊 So today we are having Chicken parmigiano and spaghetti with salad and garlic bread or Cheese brats, tiny potatoes roasted, with veggies and cucumber sour cream salad. 😀

nothing fancy, some grilled ham and smoked cheddar sandwiches, homemade salsa and chips. I had just a smoked cheddar grilled cheese encrusted with Parmesan, and salsa and chips were yum.

Smoking various meats for tomorrow and prepping for tomorrow a small get together. Looking forward to more watermelon, YUM! That may be what I eat all day.

HAPPY 4th OF JULY EVERYONE!!!!!!

This was a brand I used to like but haven't had for a while. I picked it up because it was a good deal - now I know why.

Cwillie, we are having a Costco frozen pizza tonight, but we always doctor it up with extra cheese, meat, olives.. whatever. And we always cook it for less than it says

Not wanting to cook I pulled out a frozen pizza - oh my, it was the worst thing I've put in my mouth since ... I don't know when. The crust literally tasted like cardboard, I couldn't even just pick off the toppings they were spread so thin.
Well, at least I don't have to complain about overeating.🤢

Thanks CW. I try. That’s why I try to cook. Otherwise, I become a junk food snacker for the evening. After last summer’s heart surgeries, I’m trying harder. Don’t want to go thru that again.

Waaaa, I've got ants!!
When I was out this morning a picked up a coffee and a doughnut for later, but tonight when I opened the little bag it was full of teeny tiny ants😡.
Of course I shook them all off and ate it anyway.

So true Pam, rinse it to lower sodium. I use celtic or Himalayan salt so it has less sodium and more minerals. Oh yeah, with mashed potatoes is a fave. It went really well with the meat loaf too.

Cwillie kimchi is a bit spicy or you can buy mild. We enjoy it with everything, it is a fresh healthy dish that goes well with anything.

I agree a couple tablespoons doesn't seem like much, but we don't want to get so burned out that we stop eating it for our health. Believe me, brats warrant a full serving.

Cwillie, Kimchi is tasty !! And if you are worried about the salt in the sauerkraut, you can rinse it off when you open the can. I love it myself,, with mashed potatoes or dogs or brats!

No, I've never had kimchi, I'm not sure if I'd like it or not.
And once I realized the sodium content of sauerkraut I limited that to a once or twice a year treat, to me a couple of tablespoons would just be the taste test.

Cwillie, have you tried kimchi for probiotics?

The cabbage in both is full of nutrients and is great for sinuses, lots of nutritional benefits including prebiotics.

If you want the prebiotic benefit from sauerkraut you need to eat it raw of course! My mom had a recipe for sauerkraut salad that was popular back in the 70's, I think I'd prefer it that way better than straight out of the jar.

Shell, raw sauerkraut is very different than the cooked stuff.

Kinda salty and tart. Yummo with bratwurst, but super nutritious so we have incorporated a couple tablespoons with every meal.

Great for gut health.
