ive just been watchin george carlin ranting about the ten types of people who need to die . performers with only one name such as " sting " and " prince " were mentioned . you just cant have good cynical humor without some rash statements .
as far as the doobie song " listen to the music " . those 4 words are screamed out 35 times in a 3 . 40 minute song .
armpit farts are more entertaining ..

To each his own is right. But making radical statements saying someone you don't like should die is crossing the line in my opinion.

Stacey, Read your last statement on newsfeed and wondered if you flipped out, lost it or what! Did not know you were referencing songs, so came here to find out. Taken out of context, it was just crazy, ya know?

Gershun, Just wishing people would not drink and dial-or drink, do drugs, and post on AC. It gets old, imo.

My whine moment was hearing about Prince. I was a true fan. Went to see him at Madison Square Garden. Was in second row, orchestra and I got carried away and he nicely told me to chill. He took pic of me and my date. It was awesome. I was also a fan of the Bee Gees, the Doobies also. Prince was a musical genius behing a lot of songs. I love them all we have lot of living legends.

Pam, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top talked about Prince and his guitar. Gibbons was a fan of Prince.

I'm never really a fan of anyone. I love music and love good songs. There's usually only a few songs I like by each singer or group. Prince had a lot that I like very much.

Prince was a Jehovah's Witness who didn't do drugs or drink. His death put a bit of a smudge on his public character. I believe we'll learn that the man was sick with something. I have been warmed by the outpouring of stories I've heard about him. I am more his fan in death as I learn more about him. He apparently was a very good person.

I'm still kind of in a blue funk about Prince. His music gave voice to my youthful rebellion, which is why I liked it so much - because my parents hated it. Isn't that why all youth like certain music? Because their parents don't. Like him or hate him, you can't deny that someone who can play 22 intstruments and has a vault with enough unreleased music to put out new stuff every year for 100 years is one hell of a talent.

Jessie - There's more and more info coming out. Prince did not do illicit drugs or even drink - but he was in a lot of pain and was taking medication for that. He'd also had the flu recently, and he was a lifelong epileptic. There are a *lot* of possible factors for death there. He was alone from 8pm Weds until he was found unresponsive Thurs morning at 9:45am. That is a very long time span - anything could have happened. Seizure. Heart failure. Aneurysm. Blood clot. Anything. If he were taking pain meds like Percocet (which is what is being reported, but not confirmed yet), and had become dependent on them, he may have tried to stop taking them cold turkey - that alone could be a huge factor. You can't just stop taking those kinds of meds like that - you have to wean off of them.

I wasn't a real Prince fan but viva La differance. To each his own. Its still sad he died.
I was real upset when David Bowie died. I actually cried. Was sad when I heard about Glen Frey of the Eagles too. So young, all of them.

I dont know much about pop musicians, but I do love it when people sing Happy Birthday, and Xmas carols. The more traditional, the better. It takes a long time for art to be fully appreciated and proven. Wouldn't it be great to peek into the future and see how many (& which) pop stuff actually survives the test of time? Journey, Train, John Legend, Eniya or whatever her name is.

Mallory ~ You mentioned the traditional songs, and I thought of my grandmother. She couldn't remember who I was (she had been diagnosed with dementia for a full decade by the time I became her caregiver), but she could remember Christmas carols, and other songs like that. She would light up when I sang them for her and she would sing along the best she could remember. Thanks for reminding me of that. :-)

i like extremely edgy or off color humor . chris rock , jim jeffries , george carlin , carlos mencia , etc . if humans cant criticize each other then you wouldnt have much humor at all . thats why satire has special legal protection .
well , except in current germany where merkel is going to allow the turkish government to sue a german comedian .
i think shes wrong and i think the german supreme court will slap her and erdogan both down .

Speaking of odd shows for our elders to watch - Mom's favorite thing to watch every Sunday night before she went into the NH? Naked and Afraid. The men would walk by on the screen and she'd exclaim, "Oooh, lookit those buns!!"

Just venting. Mother had a big boo hoo session that I made myself sit and listen through instead of just literally running out of the room. Complaint of the day was she is unhappy with the temp of her room, gave emotional support to someone I don't like and assured her I would try to be more attentive to her room temp, I said this several times and she just kept going on about the room temp. I forced my self to ask all the therapeutic questions I could think of just like I would a patient ( I am an old retired nurse) to see if there was more than just the room temp issue.I think she is depressed, she is on 100 mg of zoloft a day and has been for years. She certainly does have issues to be depressed about, she is 80yrs. old and she can't do the things she used to do.I try to support her in helping her do the things she cans. It's just emotionally exhausting sometimes, like swimming in mud that is sucking me down a black hole. Oh, did I mention I am still trying to lose weight and as of this am I am still the same weight I was last Monday ,at least it isn't more as I have slightly fallen off the wagon a few times this week.It isn't easy going low contact as she lives in my house and her bedroom is right across the hallway from my room.Giving emotional support to someone that turned their back on me when I needed her most is killing small pieces of me at a time. I feel like a traitor to myself. However, it is a sunny day today and I am determined to get some enjoyment from it,.I hate to "whine" because I don't have to deal with dementia yet, she can still dress herself, and clean herself after going to the bathroom, she can feed herself, her mind is woefully intact. Those of you dealing with bedbound, incontinent demented loved ones are my heroes and I love you all.

P.S. if they kill of Daryl on Walking Dead I am done with it. They have already killed 2 horses in the series. Beginning to think someone in the writers group had a bad experience with a horse. Get over it already!

Yes, it was hard dealing with my incontinent, completely bed bound Mom, but in some ways it was easier than trying to get her to the bathroom with her mobility issues and cleaning up there. I remember a mess got on the floor and then she tracked it with the walker all over her her house.... Either way it is not a fun job as most of us know.
I keep telling my husband that he should be glad his 86yr. old Mom can still get to the bathroom and clean herself...heck she even walks without a walker or cane and can walk across uneven grassy surfaces faster than I can.
Good news today is that hubby is back in sinus rhythm...it just converted back yesterday afternoon. Wonder what can trigger episodes of Afib? So many things, sodium, stress, maybe too much mineral supplements with the Tikosyn. Everyone is different, but I am really watching the sodium in his diet as that sends the blood pressure up. Getting old is awful. Seems that once people hit their 50s "Things" start to happen and creep in on us. Scarier than a spooky movie!
