Try going to the websites of the local regional hospitals that are closest to your home. Usually these websites will have a place where you can search for certain specialty doctors, a photo and resume usually will be provided. I found many a new doctor that way :)
Call your local hospital and ask for a referral. You want a geriatric psychiatrist, not psychologist. Psychiatrist is an MD who can prescribe meds. In most states, Psychologists cannot.
I think I'd look for a geriatrician as a primary care doctor. She can deal with the weakness, incontinence, and acute illnesses that occur from time to time. You need a doctor you can call when Mom has a severe cough, for example.
The geriatrician may treat the depression or may refer your mom to a specialist.
Both my husband and my mother had the same woman geriatrician as their primary care doctor. She was awesome. I am wondering how long I should wait to switch to her myself! My husband also had a behavioral neurologist who treated his dementia.
A geriatrician is for older folks what a pediatrician is for kids. It is a specialty but serves as the primary care provider. Geriatricians and pediatricians both refer their patients out to specialists when the need arises. (Out pediatrician referred us to a pediatric cardiologist, for example.)
I'd really start with finding a geriatrician for the primary care doc.
