I was laid off during the pandemic because my job shut down due to covid. I wasn't receiving unemployment because they were behind paying. I lost my home, so she gave me a place to stay. We became very good friends. Her daughter and boyfriend also lived there. When I moved out, hours later they abused her very badly. She asked me to move back in and be her caretaker, so I did and love every minute but I need some financial help.

Find Care & Housing
most caregivers are paid by the person they care for from their funds. Check with Agency on Agency to see if they know of any programs that can pay anything. If you lost your job due to Covid check with Social Services to find out if any of the Covid assistance programs can pay. Check with unemployment to see if funding has resumed. Many areas have received new funding from the federal government.

The person you are caring for pays the caregivers. Or if she is unable to make financial decisions then the person that is her POA for Finances is the one that would pay you from her funds.
A Caregiver Contract should be drawn up. It should specify what you do. How many hours. Your rate of pay.
It should also be determined who pays taxes and reports your earnings so that your work hours will count toward your potential Social Security quarters.

I can't remember the name of the government program (USA) that pays caregivers as long as they are not a spouse. Someone on here must remember the name. You can try Googling it, too.

definitely check with the area of aging, and with the va and your charities. Because while local exemptions exist, Medicaid isn’t generally available to pay for free aides while the person enjoys home ownership.

Typically how this goes then is that the property heirs step in with their money to pay someone if the elder cannot, or via volunteering, normally with inheritance being a concern. Or the elder sells and goes into a private pay al and in time on their Medicaid list or moved to snf.

To get paid now, you’re going to have to work for an employer who can pay you now. Or do a 200000 market job, three frosted, for about 15k worth of board and care.
