If you are SSI and Medicaid, talk to your caseworker and ask for another living situation. If I knew where you were, I could tell you more detail

Also apply for food stamps and get a list of local food banks. You probably also qualify for a free phone and utility subsidy. Your caseworker should have info on all of this.

Hi, how old are you? Are you 62 or better. If you are you could look for section 8 202 properties, or 202 PRAC properties. These are HUD housing for seniors. In the St. Cloud MN area these projects are usually attached to nursing homes, though this isn't always true. These sites like the one I work at have there own waiting lists, so a voucher is not required. Apply, get on all the waiting lists they have and wait for a call, usually 9 months to a year and a half. There are section 8 housing projects out there too that do not require a voucher, just apply and get on a waiting list. HUD will require a criminal back ground check and some places do credit checks. If you are not sure where to start looking just go on line and look for subsidized housing in your area. Get on all the waiting lists you can so you have a choice. I work in senior housing in Sauk Rapids MN and and we have wonderful subsidized housing for seniors. Rent is based on 30% of your adjusted gross income. Good luck with your search.
