My mom is mentally ill from past 25 year since from my 2 years old. Now her condition became more worst and no one can control her. she started roaming around the roads day and nights. Very often i take leave from my office and search for her street by street.
I'm working in a different state. Weekends i'll visit her, as she is staying with my grand parents. Now they are refusing to take care of her and telling me to put her in a home.

I'm already leaving my kid in a day care and working. I dont know a way for my mom.
I regret for my inability to take care of her. But i dont like to put her in a home.
I wanted her to he in a safe, care and peace zone.

Please help me.

Are you serious? It sounds like your mother is not retarded or mentally ill. It sounds like she has dementia that no one in the family is able to handle. Get over the part about what you don't think you would like to do, putting her in a home, and get on with it. What are you waiting for? You don't think she's going to be injured or taken advantage of on the streets, or just disappear? Really, get real. Quit piddling around and see that she is taken care of. This should have already been done for her. If not by you, then by whom? You'll feel a whole lot worse if something happens to her because you just sat around thinking, gee I don't want to do this. If you want her to be safe, make it so.

kalaimani, it sounds as if the only way to keep your mom safe is to find professional care for her. She may need medication and she certainly needs care. Wandering the streets is dangerous. You really aren't in a position to help her now other than to contact adult protective services and ask them to take her into the system. She needs help and from what you've said, this is the only way.

You aren't harming her by getting her help - this is what she needs. Please follow through and then let us know how you are doing, as well.

Your mom needs help - mental illness, untreated, is a terrible suffering. "Mentally retarded" is the old phrase, still commonly used though, for people who have intellectual disability (low IQ) from birth or a very young age. I pray you will find her a safe place where she can get care and you can visit as much as you want.

Put your mom in a home. If you can't care for your mother full time than put her in a safe environment where she will be cared for. Put your mind at ease by doing your homework first and finding a place that you feel the most comfortable with.
