Are widows of veterans eligible for home care benefits or hospice care?

I just went through this with my Mom, who is a widow of my Dad who was a WW2 vet. Go to the local VA office,or call and they will tell you what you need to do. My Mom is eligible to receive up to 1300.00 for care either in a nursing/assisted living, or for personal caretakers - which can be a family member. Yes she is entitled if her Veteran Spouse qualified for Aid & Attendance. You can go to your local Veteran Commission Office to apply. You will need his DD214 Discharge Papers, physicia. Order stating you need home care services that includes the qualifying diagnosis and proof of marriage and also proof of income. Also take all medical expenses they are deductible to help you financially qualify, even all your old past due medical bills.

Go up to the Money and Legal tab and click on Veterans Assistance. If mom's doctor will certify her need for two or more ADL's (activities of daily living) she can qualify if her assets are limited. You need to find her husband's discharge papers, their marriage certificate and five years of financial records.
