I seriously love my grandma but I don't think she loves me. I don't get it she always asks me to help her, and I do. And for some reason she tells me "YOU DO NOTHING, YOU NEVER HELP ME, WHEN YOU ASK ME FOR HELP I'M NOT HELPING YOU!" I don't get it. Today, I was with my sister coloring, and when we were done, I wanted to mix her gel pen's with mine. So I did, and my sister started to cry so then I believe my grandma heard her cry and came to our room she was like, blah, blah, blah, blah, do not mix them, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, we need to understand her, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I was triggered, like am I supposed to know? And then I was like "Ok! I didn't know!" And she said I'm gonna get sick because of the anger and just tried to get on a fight with me, not physically of course but verbally. So since me and my sister were coloring on the floor with some pillows my grandma said, "PUT THOSE PILLOWS ON YOUR BED" And I told her, that I cleaned the floor. And again got mad at me. Yesterday, she ALSO started her childish drama about something DUMB. Seriously just dumb. Since we came to the USA, (cause we lived in another country) my grandma has changed a lot! In Thanksgiving me and my cousin wanted a sleepover, and my grandma was like "No" and I said pleaseeee cause all kids will say that, so she pushed me to my room. I repeat, PUSHED ME, I coudn't even say bye to them cause my grandma freaking pushed me to my room! That was the first time I even thought of killing myself and since that day I started being more depressed. So whatever, when she pushed me to my room I locked the door and started crying and texting my mom to come home (cause she was at work) I just couldn't believe my grandma and my grandma will probably keep on being mean to me forever. I always try to be nice to her but I'm getting a lot meaner now because of who? MY GRANDMA. The sad part is that she lives in my house with my mom and sister. And whenever I try to tell her why she's acting like this? She gets even more mad like what? Thanks of her
I'm acting like this.

It’s not you, Yoda. The old posts pop up from time to time. Seems ridiculous to me. I hate seeing old posts of mine. Yet, newer posts are ignored. There are lots of new people who write new posts. They should take priority over older post that are absolutely of no relevance.

Grandma, people put closed posts back in the rotation by voting on a comment. Just saw one of my old posts. Grrrrr. Guess it happens by accident.

It’s ok. We’ve all done that. This was a poster who just wanted to vent and never replied. We have absolutely no idea if they ever took our advice or how things worked out. I suspect nothing changed.

How old are you?

How old is grandma?

What is the condition of grandma's health?

Why doesn't your grandma or your mother hire some help for grandma during the day or does she?

I think that you are in a situation that is over your head and too much is being expected of you. As others have said, share this with a teacher at school or some other adult that you trust.

i tink tht some ppl are lucky to have the sweetest grannys and some are unfrotunate like u and me but we just have to put in that extra effort like clean the bedrooms or wash all the dishes bare hand to 'suprise' her and stuff but yeah. just know we r here for each other. :-D

same, but to be honest I think you should just show more 'respect and do good things' that u wouldn't normally do like clean her bedroom or clean the living room because small things like that will make her see that you aren't so bad (even if u aren't) and she will probably be nice and kind to you. my story is above incase you wanted to know :-) ur welcome

Well, you see my friends grandma's all seem lovely and stuff but mine..... Anyway so I last met my grandma when i was 4 in Africa and so i have met her again 8 years later and she is being incredibly mean to me and i mean come on I haven't even met you for 8 years straight! So, people often buy my grandma things because apparently she is 'so special and important because she came all the way from Africa' but seriously she is so mean! when i went to the fridge to eat some ice cream, I checked a few days afterwards and more than half of it was gone! I told her and my mum that i was shocked (in a funny way) and they said 'why are u shocked u know the ice cream is for everyone' and i told them that I never said it was only for me i was just a little shocked at how much had been eaten by 2 people. And so I got triggered and gave my grandma LOADS of ice cream and she was grateful, then just today I had the last bit of the ice cream and I GOT TOLD OF FOR EATING THAT MINIATURE PIECE OF ICE CREAM! and so my grandma said that i have to BUY HER AN ENTIRE TUB MORE OF ICE CREAM! just because i ate that small bit of that ice cream which if i remember correctly she said was for EVERYONE!! plus she ate loads of the ice cream. I am really annoyed and my mum is annoyed at me because she knows my grandma (gogo) is going to tell EVERYONE in Africa and EVERYONE is going to think i'm a bad child. And I'm definitely not i just absolutely loathe my grandma at times and then some i adore her. I just feel like I want to cry and just sink and become nothing. And I bet you she loves my little sister a million and ten gazillion percent more than she likes me.

My grandma is a little like this she tells me that I’m disrespectful bc i left a coat hanger in the floor and she called me a smart. I think that you should try to talk to her about your feelings.

When I was young my grandma usually treats me very nice . She plays with me , she carries me , she thought me how ride a bike and much more fun stuffs . Ever since my little sister arrived , my grandma began to take care of my newborn little sister and she didn't play with me,and I asked her : "Why you didn't play with me ? " she replied " Because your sister needs to take alot of cares and your mom still pain , she still can walk " . 2 years later , she angry at me because I did oppisite things that she asked me to do . I just don't understand why she is that angry ? My mom explainded : " She is almost old , soon she will 60 years old . She is angry at you because you did something wrong , she got alot of work to do so she can't handle you and house work at the same time ! She is very helpfull , without her mom and is very busy but if we rent a maid , the maid won't do good . After I heard what mom explained , I tried my best to effort my badness . Now my grandma less being rude or made at me because not much more bad stuff that I had made ! I just wan't to say that if these days , I had bad attidude and make felt sad . I just wan't to say I'm sorry what I had done , hope you forgive me and I won't do this again !

My grandmothers is the same . I live with my cousin and aunt and I feel like a prisoner or something . She’s always so mean to me always criticizing me and threating name soo differently than all of her grandchildren. She would talk to them so nicely but when it’s me she starts screaming at me I mean what did I do to deserve that . Once she asked to me to go get something and she didn’t even say the right word so I didn’t understand what she was searching for , so she started screaming at me and saying that I’m trash but what do you know when my cousin didn’t know what it was either she explained to her nicely. I REALLY HATE HER

I really think you should talk to your school counselor, teacher, or priest. Very just as honest about the pushing, hitting, and yelling as you have here. Ask them to help since you all are from another country and don't know how to get beer the help she needs. We want life to be better for our children!

I"d suggest you talk to your school counselor about this. I found they are very useful for getting strategies for handing difficult old people!

Teffib, does your grandma have dementia? On this site we also say their “brain is broken”. How old is Grandma and how old are you? Sad to say that sometimes, as we get older, things that didnt use to bother us now really do, like kids. My grandchildren visit and then go home. But Grandma is in a new, strange country and living with her daughter and grandchildren. This probably isn’t how she pictured living out her years if she lived in her old country all her life. There are many things about my life now that make me very unhappy. I sure try not to take it out on others.

But, your grandma should not be putting her hands on you. She should not be pushing or hitting you. We have laws against that in this country. If your mother won’t listen to you, speak to an adult at your school or your church, or even an aunt, uncle or another adult in your family. If they won’t help, keep trying until you find someone who will help. If you play sports, maybe a coach. When you see your doctor, maybe them. The fact that Grandma tells you not to tell your mom makes me think Grandma knows she’s doing wrong. TELL YOUR MOM!!! You should never have to accept any adult pushing or hitting or “fighting” with you, even your grandma. Maybe that’s the way it was in her old country, but not here. You need to find an adult who will listen to you and help you deal with Grandma.

Come back and tell us how you are doing. I care about you and that you are OK.
