I have called several places where they say 'taxes done in person - make an appointment', but calling they only do 'drop-off.
I have called many places with this result.
I can only take public transportation to get around San Francisco.

The AARP runs a volunteer program called Tax Aid which is free. I suspect that whether you can have an in person appointment depends upon the COVID regulations in your state.

Do you have a computer? Doing your taxes with Turbo Tax, Tax Act or H and R Block software isn't hard at all.

You can join Nextdoor.com and ask if someone in your community can help you with this. There are many will and able people right in our neighborhoods, and they are not anonymous like on other forums, therefore less of a risk.

Most of the places that have done Taxes in the past have been cancelled sue to COVID-19
Most Tax preparers will have you drop off your paperwork and will then have you return once they are done.
You can try one of the computer programs and do them yourself. (my daughter does theirs and the past few years she has done mine.) And she claims it is pretty easy and foolproof. It actually guides you doing them
I do not think at this time you will get someone that will sit down with you in the room and do your taxes.

I had my taxes done in person at H&R Block. You can try them. But I live in NC, where things haven't been so closed up like they have been in CA. Good luck.

My Grandson also was able to get an appt with H & R block. My tax preparer asked that our taxes be dropped off. We could make an appt and wait in the car till done or drop off.
