Need more information; why did she go the last time and what are her symptoms this time?    If there are just two times at the ER, I don't see the problem.   We've been more than that as my father aged, and sometimes it was  a few visits just in one week.    But there definitely were physical issues.

Could you elaborate on what her complaints are?  Otherwise, it's kind of just a guessing game as we really don't have much information.

Your profile only states that dementia is involved.   Do you think she's imagining symptoms?

My 94 YO mother had a slight stroke, she then went into a panic mode, going to the ER almost daily, afraid to stay alone. Long story short, she was put on a small dosage of Xanax and we moved her into AL, she now has people there 24/7. No more panic attacks, there was nothing wrong with her in the first place, she was just afraid that she was dying, vitals were always good.

Need more information about what your Mom's complaints are. What do the doctors tell you?

Is this only the second time she’s went to the ER? I know it’s a pain to wind up there waiting for hours with someone, especially if it ends up not being a life threatening emergency.

What does your Mom think is wrong? Can you take her to her primary care Dr. to address her problems?
Sometimes someone really does have an issue going on but it takes some time to find the cause. I’ve seen this 1st hand with my mom who really did have a problem. There’s also my very sweet mother-in-law who has panic attacks but thinks it’s a heart attack. Hopefully, you’d get more “personalized” care from her regular Dr. & they’ll be more willing to help get to the bottom of it, whether real or imaginary.

It may be an attention thing. They swear my Grandmother always was sick on a holiday for the attention.

Part of it is attention getter tells us how nice the nurse is because she’s getting attention.

What are her symptoms?

Is she suffering from anxiety? Consider getting her in to see a geriatric psychiatrist for evaluation and treatment.
