What makes a good caregiver, either in a facility or for in-home care?

When my mother was in NH we had many of the staff tell us that they considered working in the field of nursing home care to be their life’s work, that they loved it, and wouldn’t want to do anything else. It was a calling, not a job. I always admired them

I would add: selflessness; patience; self-knowledge.
