Lewy Body dementia is one type of the many dozens of identified causes of dementia. So the difference is that LBD is a specific diagnosis, whereas dementia is a general term.

alz.org is the website of the Alzheimer's Association, where you can find a wealth of information and resources about dementia including LBD.

I think that the general public has never heard of lewy body dementia
(or any of the others), to most people dementia = alzheimer's. Each type of dementia has it's own unique characteristics, thankfully today we have a wealth of information at our fingertips.

Perfect answer CM. Dementia is the catch all term for any sort of memory loss. Some are reversible, some not. Alzheimer's is the most common with, I believe, 7 of 10 cases. There are many resources out there if you Google.
