What is respite care and does it help pay for anything besides giving a caregiver a break? Will it help pay for a nursing facility?

Respite is a break for caregivers. For example, if you're caring for someone and you ask a friend or family member to take your place for a little while so you can get out, that's respite care.

Some nursing homes and assisted living facilities offer respite care where you place your loved one in their care temporarily so you can have a break.

Respite care is temporary.
