What is involved in total hip replacements / hip labrum surgery?

Has anyone been told they need labrum surgery on there hip, I’ve had 6 shots of cortisone, and the surgery is on my horizon. I’m not happy about it, and can you go without labrum surgery?

Find Care & Housing
There are two approaches; posterior and anterior. A surgeon takes out the cup (acetabulum - part of the pelvis) & the head of the femur (big upper leg bone) & replaces them with a titanium “ball & socket” device. That’s it in a nutshell. For lots of more details, google hip replacement.
