What is the criteria for hospice care?

My aunt is 83 with CHF. She has a pacemaker/defibulator and has trouble with fluid build up. She gets out of breath very quickly. She is mobile with a cane, however, not able to bath without help. She needs blood work on a regular basis to help monitor the medications she is taking.

Eligibility is a prognosis with less than 6 months life expectancy. It doesn't sound like she is near that yet, especially if she is able to get around with the walker.

I agree with Pam above. Your Aunt isn't even close to be needing Hospice care. Plus, it would be up to her doctor to decide when that time is near.
