My Mom has a long term in-home home health policy.
It reimburses mom for the payments she makes to an agency for an aide that comes in a couple hours each day.

She pays this first...then gets reimbursement.
So..is this a 1099 report INCOME? She pays all this and more out every week...and weeks later get a reimbursement....not income!

Is there a corresponding document from the agency to show that the 1099 is not valid. Not income at all.

Find Care & Housing
Katie it's not income per se. However it is a way of tracking for IRS and folks who get reimbursed for long term care that might otherwise declare payments for care as Schedule A medical deductions without reducing the expenses by reimbursements. And yes it did happen. It does need to be noted if you have medical deductions that are being itemized in your calculations. Had to do a return last year that way...
