We recently had to sell our home. The cost of care givers for my wife are rapidly eating up our bank account. What help can I get? I have care giver assistance for 8 hours a day. We are both 95. What help can I get?

Have you looked into Medicaid? If you are a veteran, you may also be eligible for VA benefits.

First, let me say that I am sorry you and your wife are experiencing these hard times in your later years.
You are right that more help is needed.
Do you have the Veterans Aid & Attendance Benefit (monthly income to pay for caregivers) for both you and your wife?

Where are you living-do you have an Assisted Living facility? You lost your home-would that leave you over the asset limitation to receive Medicaid IHSS? Or, was it also a financial asset loss and you would now qualify for benefits?

Are you receiving Medicaid IHSS already?
If so, can you have an in-home assessment made for your needs, have a housekeeper paid to come in?

How are you doing so far? Are these questions understandable to you, or you have no idea?
