One day after my Loves death, one son called me and asked if there is a Will. I said yes and I would appreciate giving me a bit of time here to grieve. He is named in the Trust. I am sure it is the other son's way to see the Will and begin his fight. The second son was intentionally left out of the Trust. Now I am being told they can freeze my bank accounts. I am also told that the home my Partner and I occupied and is now mine, can be overturned. The trust and Will were signed 2 years before he passed. He was in sound mind even up to the end. He never signed anything once he was on Hospice. I would not have allowed that. There is a possibility based on how my Partner handled his annuities that they are all going to me. Again, what good is a Trust and Will if the son who was disowned by his father IN WRITING can change things?

Oregongirl - I'm so sorry for your loss. This is the first I learned about it - I must have overlooked your earlier post(s). You need time to grieve, yes. Maybe screen your calls for a while so you don't get dragged into conversations you're not ready to have, or with people you're not willing to have them with?

OG, you're jumping to conclusions and "assuming facts not in evidence." Just because the relatives are threatening doesn't mean the estate planning documents aren't valid. They CANNOT invalidate legitimately prepared and executed agreements.

Stop listening to them and see the attorney who prepared the estate planning documents.

OG, is the lawyer who prepared the documents on retainer? I would then refer all calls of this nature to her/him. If not, I would screen calls. Do not respond to these threats.

There is a terrific article in the discussion section "estate administration". One piece of advice is "take your time". Deep breath.

You need a lawyer without delay. Sorry this is happening to you.

I am going to hire one today. This is ridiculous. People can be so greedy. My partner wanted me to be debt free and with funds to go on By no means is it a great deal of money. He wanted me to be able to sell the house when my time came for Hospice.
