What do you do when an elderly person forgets how to spit?

We need more information. Why is this a necessary task?

Runell, is this happening when your Grandmother is brushing her teeth?

Thankfully there isn't a lot of daily need for spitting. If it's tooth-brushing that requires the spitting you could go with a toothpaste that is ok to swallow. Something like greenbeaver or some other natural brand. I can't think of any other reason I need to spit, maybe I'm missing something?
