What can I give to eat to a dying patient? He gets very hungry almost everything makes him sick.

I would speak with his doctor about hospice if he is not already on it. They can help guide you through so much.

I recommend giving him probiotics, cancer and all the treatments ruin a gut. Probiotics can help get things under control. Is there anything that you have fed him that he tolerates?

He may also be actively dying and his body can not process the food. Making him miserable because if just sits there and ferments.

Has his Doctor prescribed any anti-nausea meds? My FIL had to use through his cancer treatment.

He found vegetable soups & toast tolerable. Also I think crumpets, English muffins, fruit bread, bananas.

The probiotics is a great idea, those drinking yoghurts have them added & may be good.

Try looking on line about chemo diets, even though he isn't currently having chemotherapy I imagine some of that advice might be helpful.

My GF couldn't keep food down. They found the chemo for her stomach cancer had formed sores in her stomach. I wonder if milkshakes would be OK.

When a person is actively dying, I don't think they feel hunger. The body has shut down.

If there is no experience of hunger, and hospice is present, I would discuss with them whether or not to attempt to feed at all. But when hunger is present try cool ice creams, jellos and etc. Basically try what the patient wants to eat, but be certain there are no swallow deficits and food is sufficiently soft.
