Violarus, I found this article here in Aging Care that would be helpful. It talks about Alzheimer's which is similar to dementia.

Could one develop quicker than the other. How to distinguish.

many types of dementia. and all different in ways. I guess it matters on persons over-all health too. my dad had a strong heart. he was in BAD shape in many other ways. ~terrible alzheimers~ but he kept going - getting older I think due to strong heart. (not emotionally - I mean physically)
I guess you can only know for sure what type of dementia by seeing a dr

my mom geriatric dr just called hers 'alzheimers' because she said it was moving so slowly.
