My husband and I have taken many classes on the importance of exercise but he refuses to do it and the "white matter" shown in a brain scan is only going to increase without doing more. Any ideas without my nagging, etc.??

You don't mention his age or his degree of impairment so it is hard to give specific advice. Try to find things you can do together, even if it is just going out to the store. Use the old advice and park at the back of the parking lot or have him push the shopping cart up and down the aisles.
Would he enjoy dancing at the seniors centre? Swimming at the Y? Getting a gym membership?

If he has mild cognitive impairment, he may still be able to enjoy exercising with people his own age. What about Silver Sneakers? My dad did that for awhile and really enjoyed it. My dad met a large group of seniors at the Y in the mornings and they walked and did exercises. They also have aerobics at the Y.

I saw your other thread about how your husband is not focusing or holding attention. I posted there asking what the neurologist say about his condition. What has he been diagnosed with? What are his current capabilities?

Does he enjoy bowling or golf? How about Frisbee golf? Anything that resembles exercise is likely to be short-lived, but a fun activity will last longer. How about bike riding, mall walking, visiting the neighboring cities and towns, attending area festivals and farmers' markets. I agree with the dance lessons, square dancing is fun. Even gardening or lawncare or housework. It is a challenge convincing people that exercise can be fun! Good for you for trying!

Thank you for your ideas and care. We do try to walk & yes park far away from an entrance but he needs to do more cardio and my knees won't take to it right now. He has been diagnosed with "mild" cognitive impairment but nothing else. Guess I just need to go w/the flow of his aging. He is still able to do a lot around the house and especially on the computer so I just need to count my blessings and stop complaining!

Get one of those electric pedal machines... much easier to use then a stationery bike. Can also be used to strengthen the arms. The plug in models you can see how many miles you can pedal which could trigger his competitive self :)
