Thanks everyone! I think I will just keep the one I got from Walmart and tell him to just keep on the sink by the shower. I know he wil feel better having it!

The lifeline my father in law uses is water proof but he takes it off to shower because he doens't like the wet cord to get his shirt wet. We convinced him to only take a shower when someone was with him. He was willing to go along with that.

The one my mother-in-law wears in her asst. living is waterproof, but she takes it off every time she takes a shower so that's useless. I've never heard of one that has a very long range though.

He doesn't have a landline which I forgot to mention. I wish that one from WalMart was waterproof! the price is right and it's exactly what I'm looking for.

I have Lifeline for my grandmother. It is waterproof and it will be automatically detected if she falls. That feature cost a few dollars more but is well worth it. When we first moved here she was in an addition built onto the back of the house (like her own apartment, but she is now inside with me). I was cooking dinner until someone was pounding on the door. It was the fire department, she had fell and because she didnt answer when they tried to contact her they came out. Well worth the couple extra dollars and your piece of mind!

I just got one for my Mom.. It's an 'Alert 1" and the range they say is about the size of a football field. She has the necklace and it's waterproof... She even wears it in the shower...
