My uncle keeps taking the channel button down below channel 2 and then keeping on going in that direction. He cannot understand, and he is having more and more difficulty in following my directions to correct the problem. (A. Put the remote in your hand, B. find the on/off button at the top, C. turn the TV on, D. find the channel buttons, one pointing to the left and the other pointing to the right, E. keep punching the button with the arrow to the right until you see a station.)

Ok. Finally. Someone else is fighting TV remote demons besides me. I swear at least 10 times a day my mom somehow changes the input device selection on her tv. Drives. Me. Nuts. If someone could invent a dementia proof remote that maybe allows you to program like 10 channels only so that they can just scroll through those channels that would be a Nobel Peace Prize worthy invention. The remote must turn on the TV and satellite receiver at the same time so that only one remote is needed. I use only the directv remote for both my own tv and receiver but I know to switch the remote between the two to control the power. No such luck with my mom. So I bought a universal remote that should control the power of her two devices simultaneously. Works for me. But Lord help me. She should be hired to test remotes because she jacks those things up every time.

There is a remote called The Flipper, it's for the elderly. Not sure if it would work with Satellite tv, but worth a look.

I don't know his level of progression, but, once my LO was unable to manage her tv remote, she also lost the ability to really involve herself with tv shows. I didn't realize that and got her a very BASIC remote control when she entered AL, but, she wasn't able to really focus on how it worked. And, about that time, she didn't want to watch tv anymore. I don't think she could process it enough for it to amuse her anymore.

Does your uncle still actually watch the shows? I'm not sure where he's living, but, is there an option to put it on one station and leave it there all the time? Have someone put the remote away and turn the tv on and off for him in the morning and then off at night.  Like, on the old movie channel, continuous news, sports, or old tv show channel?
