I am 63 still live on my own. There is no need to stay with me at Drs. and I live in Cumming and Orthopedic dr is also in Cumming . Is there any help out there that doesn't cost a lot of money?
Pamela, why don't you ask the doctor's office? They must be used to arranging patients' transportation, surely; or at least know where you can find some.
Pamela, this site is very helpful for many things caregiving related. It will not arrange various services however. If you need help with arranging transportation, call the Area Agency on Aging, they will have a complete list of transportation alternatives. Maybe the hospital has a volunteer organization that will help with tranporting you for an outpatient procedure? What about a friend or neighbor?
You could use a ride share service such as Uber or Lyft. They tend to be both reliable and affordable. A taxi could be another option. Sometimes the county has a service to assist people getting to medical appointments. There are also some dedicated non-emergency medical-related transportation services.
Call your local area angency on aging and ask about medical transportation. There are all kinds of companies that provide it. Or you could do a google search of your area.
When I went in for day surgery and didn't need someone to stay with me, I asked a neighbor and she gladly drove me. Another neighbor picked me up. These are people who have often said, "If there is anything I can do, just ask." Well, I asked!
Oh. And when I had cataract surgery the clinic sent a van. Be sure to ask at your clinic and also your insurance company if such services are available.
