I posted about my estranged mother showing up and needing surgery for her cervical spine stenosis. And she has a history of ICU delirium, history of mental health, problems and addiction problems. Currently not on anything. I don’t know how to share that post here. But I also spoke to an elder lawyer, who said if she does not give me immediate power of attorney to walk away. And I am having that discussion very soon. But if by chance, she does end up being cooperative and going through this surgery, how does she get to the rehab facility after the surgery? I desperately hope it would not be up to me to transport her. I predict That she will act up, or try to refuse to go to rehab, even though we have informed her that she will need it, and she seems to understand right now.

My mother was always transported fron hospital to rehab by ambulance.

Once, ONCE, I transferred my mom in my car from rehab to her new AL. She attempted to grab the wheel from my husband.

My mother was a lovely, cooperative person. Dementia does terrible things to the brain.

Do not EVER attempt to transfer your mom in a private vehicle.

As said, its up to the Hospital to set up transportation to Rehab. I really don't think they would allow you to transport her.
