What's the most a person can put into a funeral account to qualify for Medicaid?

I would pay for the funeral ahead of time. She has a right to a funeral. To be on Medicare she can only have $2000. In her account. A NH will allow $ 60 per month for personal needs any think over $2000. Of the money. The family can have a check for the amount going over $2000.or if she can survive on the monthly allowance. Take the money out. Buy clothes, buy a TV if she can appreciate it. Very low music is smoothing. I live in Massachusetts. My mother had a grave and headstone. He funeral cost over 17,000. If you where starting from scratch it would cost $25,000. To $30,000 for burial. Cremation is much less under $5000. But, those are the prices in Massachusetts. Full burials are expensive. One thing that catches people by surprise is that a person who is morbidly obese may be required to pay for a double-wide plot. This happened to my sister-in-law. We had pre-paid family plots, but she did not. I gave my plot to my brother. She was buried deeper so that he could still be buried next to ger, only above.

He has since remarried and I plan to be cremated anyways, so it ended up not costing us extra, but he will have to buy another plot with his new wife somewhere else. The four plots my father bought fifty years ago will only serve three now -- someone he never met and someone my mother didn't like.

In order for Medicaid to approve money for a funeral, you'll need to go to the funeral home and select everything needed for the final arrangements. You'll need to pay for the arrangements in full at that time. Within a week, you'll receive a letter from the annunity company holding the money until those final arrangements are needed. Here in Wisconsin, it didn't seem to matter how much was put in-it just had to be done before qualifying and had to have less that $2000 left in the account
