The commission date on the notary has expired for the POA. Does this invalidate the document?

NO, as long as it was notarized within the term of office. My notary license is renewed every four years. Even if I were to let it expire, the documents I notarized are still good.

Is this a new document, or an older document going back to 2009 or later? If it is an older document then the answer is no, the expiration date for the Notary doesn't affect the document.
