My husband has dementia and I'm preparing for future care. I have applied at a VA facility but they are requiring that I bring him for a nurse evaluation..what do I tell him where we are going & why? Nervous & concerned

Don't agree with your answer pamstegma, too much info for him right now..the message from cwillie is spot on...in my opinion it's the right thing to do for his well being for now...more info later as needed.

You tell him that the VA will give him $2600 a month if the nurse approves the need. Most vets hate the VA and the idea of getting money out of them is sweet revenge.

Sorry you didn't get any replies. If you are still looking for an answer, I would fib a little. Try telling him you have to go get a check up for your health insurance, or tell him you have to be pre approved in case you need it "some day".
