Does anybody know where there are support groups in the Beaumont CA area?

Beingblssed, the best thing you can do is contact your local agency on aging. Said agency should have a list of support groups in the area, and what type of support group you need.

When it comes to taking care of a person who had Alzheimer's/Dementia, it can be difficult to find an active group, mainly because so many caregivers are unable to take time out of their hectic schedule to attend.

In the mean time, we here would be more than happy to guide you with any questions you have. This forum is made up of experienced caregivers who have been down that road.

A good support group is a wonderful thing. I attend one twice a month in the morning and have great friends there. You can call the Alzheimer's Association at 1-800-272-3900

Online groups such as AgingCare can be very supportive, and they are open 365 a year. Stick around!

A local in-person group can be amazingly valuable, even if they only meet once or twice a month. I hope you find one! Small independent support groups not part of some national organization can be hard to locate. Do call your Agency on Aging. Also contact the regional or national organization for your loved one's disease, such as The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, or the Lewy Body Dementia Association, etc. Often support groups are sponsored by/held in nursing homes or assisted living facilities or adult day programs but are not limited to caregivers of residents. They may not be widely publicized but welcome newcomers.

I sure hope you find a suitable group! Would you mind coming back if you are successful and telling us how you found the group? This is a common need, and we learn from each other.

Riverside Co. is sponsoring a 12 week support class for caregivers through your
"Area Office on Aging".
Google your local Senior Center, drop by for the flyers, groups info, and support group resources. Or call.
