Two senior citizens, limited resources. Both early diabetes. Wife on oxygen, needs hip replacement, walks with cane. Husband orthopedic disability, walks with cane as well. Now he has lung cancer, along with his emphysema. How am I (wife) expected to pay for insurance premiums for two on oxygen, two diabetics’ supplies, now cancer treatment? And how is a physically disabled woman supposed to be sole caretaker? No relatives in same state, don’t help anyhow. Don’t have resources to pay hired help. Anything extra goes for things like urgent home maintenance. Help?

The first line for advice, information and support should be your Area Agency on Aging. Have you tried them?

Are you located in the US?

Have you spoken to anyone at your local Area Agency on Aging. Every county in the US has one.

Check the website of your county government or your municipality and there will usually be a tab for "Resources of Elders" or "Aging Care Services".

These offices are staffed by professional social workers who are knowledgeable about available resources and how to access them.

Please let us know how you are getting on. We care. (((((hugs))))))
