Find Care & Housing
Advice...
Be patient
Be kind
Don't argue or dismiss feelings, thoughts or emotions.
Redirect
Laugh
Do not feel bad telling "therapeutic lies"

Answer the questions.
You can always try to ask..say something like..tell me what you think...then wait and be patient. Be kind. Don't argue or dismiss.
When you get frustrated you can try to redirect. You can laugh AT the situation not at someone.
If you get REAL frustrated if it is safe to do so leave the room. Even 5 minutes in the bathroom will help.
(during that 5 minutes ask yourself..do I need help...can I do this...)

After many years of those kinds of questions I got used to it and it doesn't bother me any longer. I always answer, always did in the past, but now sometimes not with the actual truth if it will just cause emotional pain. My mom is smart and will know if what I'm saying is too far off of the truth. I for instance cannot get away with telling her my dad is still alive. She knows for certain he would be right there next to her if he was. She wants to know how he died and I do not tell her that. Redirecting is a good strategy. I lead her into discussions about my dad and how wonderful he was and that makes her happy. He was wonderful!
