I'm having difficulties getting my Mother's husband to stop mentally abusing her. I've tried law enforcement and Gov and haven't been able to accomplish the importance of this. Can whom my concern help me please.

Dear Caringlovingson,

I'm so sorry to hear what is happening to your mom. I would contact Adult Protective Services again. Are you able to remove her from the home and have her live with you? Or arrange alternate care through assisted living or a nursing home? I know its hard when it feels like no one is helping. But I would persist and talk with a social worker about all your options.

CaringlovingSon, I see by your profile that your Mom is living in a nursing home. What is the reason your Mom is in a nursing home? How often does your Step-Dad come to visit her? I would think if your Step-Dad keeps raising his voice as one does in mental abuse that the nursing home would stop his visits.

Or are they both living in Assisted Living together? I also would think the Staff would try to appease your Step-Dad. Step-Dad could be angry because he is scared, I know that isn't fair to your Mom. Time for doctor to step in to see what calming meds would help.

More information would really help us see the whole picture.

If the abuse is taking place when your (step?) father visits your mother at the facility, you might want to talk to the administrators and ask for suggestions on how to stop the abuse. I've never been in this situation, but I'm wondering if they could ban him until/unless he changes his behavior.

Thank you so mush for your reply. I have contacted adult protective services Who was a supervisor of that department and the social worker they sent out was a very un-professional social worker who didn't seem to have any regard for the well being for my mom. I feel as if these services are neglecting there responsibilities by trying point issues elsewhere. Elder abuse is a serious issue when its better two elders .what do i do if adult services are neglecting there responsibilities?
