Find Care & Housing
Ohme, I just went back and read your post from April 2014 in which you said that you were going to start looking at Assisted Living facilities. Have you been able to schedule any visits? Have you talked to mom's doctor about what level of care she needs?

We found that state regulations vary about needs like "2 person assist". In NYS, that can only be done in a nursing home, while in neighboring Connecticut, it's allowed in AL. To save yourself much running around, I would contact A PLACES for Mom and ask their assistance . They do not charge the patient, the facilities subscribe to their service.

(I just responded to your other post).
You can go to the tab on this page that says "eldercare" and put in your zipcode. You could call "a place for mom" and they will tell you what's available in your area, what the costs are and steps to be taken. Your mom will need to have had a recent TBA test to go to any facility so you might want to get that rolling.

Your mom is not going to get mistreated (I picked that up from another of your posts). You are not abandoning her and you haven't failed. I guess I'm lucky in that I'm not a nurse and never even considered the idea that mom could be cared for at home, anyone's home. She clearly needed round the clock care and supervision and no one person can do that. She's not going to be mistreated because you're going to be a regular visitor, you'll bring the staff goodies and you'll be your mom's advocate.
