He gets up late in the a.m. and naps 2 to 4 hours in the afternoon.
Goes to bed anywhere from 10 p,m. to 12

Let him rest. You did not mention whether or not he has any cognitive issues. If he does, I am sure the confusion can be mentally tiring. My Mom has sleeping issues, so I let her sleep/rest whenever and for as much as she needs. She has AD and I feel that she gets mentally tired since her mind is no longer in tact.

My mom has a similar schedule. I make sure she eats and drinks something, but don't disturb her naps. She has no energy to stay up long anymore. If you haven't already, it wouldn't hurt to have him checked by a doctor to see if there is anything specific causing his drowsiness.
