My father is in a nursing home in another state. The car needs to be sold. I do have a durable poa.

A proper POA might authorize you to sell the car, though, I would be concerned if your father receives Medicaid. Often Medicaid has regulations about the recipient's assets and/or income. Their assets are generally limited to $2000. The car is an allowed asset that does not count in their assets, but if it's sold and there are cash proceeds, they might. Hopefully, some posters around here that know much more about this than I do will chime in and respond.

I would confirm this issue if he's on Medicaid, before I made the sale.
