Dear friends, my mother is suffering from chronic imbalance, gait disorder (she had suffered a few episodes of BPPV vertigo in the past). Apart from that, she also suffers from IBS disorder, severe anxiety and fear primarily due to imbalance and stomach. i read about the Ozone therapy and went in for the first session today - the doctor administered it on my mother using the ear insufflation method. Will this cause any side effects considering that my mother has BPPV, basically trouble in the ears, ear infection etc...looked up on the net and there are side effects of liquid discharge due to this treatment, severe ear pain etc....hence am worried if this would be the right recourse for her. Kindly let me know if any of you have undergone Ozone therapy primarily using the ear insufflation method and are there any complications to it. Appreciate your kind assistance...thanks a ton...savita

There is an old saying that goes, "Don't put anything in your ear smaller than an elbow!" Since the eardrum is so sensitive, trying to manipulate it and surrounding areas is dangerous. Vertigo can be caused by medications, and before you go putting anything in one's ear, I would try stopping meds and see if the vertigo subsides. IBS can be helped with acidophilus (in yogurt or refrigerated pills), eating less, and cutting out acidic foods/liquids. Sodas and coffee are main irritants.
