I have tried to call the Medicaid hotline and they are always busy. How much would it cost to hire an elderly law attorney.

The cost to hire an Elder Law Attorney varies from location to location. Example, the one I use cost $500/hour but she is part of a large law here in the Washington DC burbs. If you live in a small city, the cost per hour would be less, but you might have trouble finding an attorney who specializes in Elder Law.

The best thing to do is to call around to the different law offices and ask if they have an attorney on staff who specializes in Elder Law, and if yes, what is the hourly rate. Most attorneys will give you the first hour or first half hour free of charge.
