I am a US citizen and POA for CDN relative for which I receive compensation per CDN law. Didn't realize I'd have more space, lol. I take care of all of my elderly Canadian uncle's affairs, he is in a dementia ward in Canada. I am in Florida and a US citizen. Per his wishes and Canadian law I am compensated for doing this as his POA for finance and health. I need to know how to handle this on the Canadian side (in essence I pay myself on behalf of him, but I have to file his Canadian return as well) and then I need to know how to report this income here in the US as well.

You don't need a lawyer. You can see a tax accountant they will help you. I worked at H&R Block for many years and know they have many great tax preparers. If you call ask to see a rep that is an enrolled agent and does Canadian returns, not everyone does Canadian returns. Hope this helps.

ramiller: I don't recommend H & R Block at all! Make major errors and some are just retired DOD workers. They are a joke! Best to go with a qualified CPA or an estate attorney.

I handled family affairs across multiple states and the accounting was complicated. Though my Attorney is also a CPA, I required an accountant, the dual licensure gave him additional knowledge but only one area of expertise. You need an accountant as stated by previous post, but you may not find one with enough experience with both countries. I have accountants in both states, as laws regarding each state are different and you also have the ruling factor of course of federal income tax laws. Thank God the your home state of FL doesn't have state tax as well. Mine do and it's just an incredible amount of additional work.
