I am a caregiver to an elderly couple. They live in the independent area of a retirement community. The wife has severe dementia. The husband has mild-medium dementia. He takes great pride in filling both their pill boxes on a weekly basis. Frequently he makes mistakes. I am usually there to correct the medicines, however, Id like to explore getting automatic pill dispensers for them. What types/brands are best and easy to use?

With memory problems I would not make any assumptions about whether or not the pills are going into their mouths even with an automated dispenser. With my MIL, a correctly filled out pill box and me directing her over the phone for every step, I'd go over there to her house to find the pills from random days scattered over the table. One question I would ask is: if your memory-challenged couple still doesn't take the meds from the automatic dispenser correctly, are they in danger of overdosing?
